The Waldock Way: Holiday Fun Around the World is a curriculum that helps people of all ages learn more about various holidays all over the world. There are over 30 holidays featured in the curriculum which includes well known celebrations such as Easter. It also includes lesser known celebrations such as Juneteenth. Each celebratory lesson includes a reading passage, book suggestions, craft, coloring page, and a resource page with a YouTube playlist, Pinterest Board, and recipe. This digital curriculum is $28.
We love holidays at our house. So, of course we were so excited for the opportunity to review The Waldock Way: Holiday Fun Around the World. We chose to use the curriculum to celebrate one of the most festive Holidays—Mardi Gras! As someone who had a New Orleans themed wedding, this was perfect. Each holiday lesson is straightforward very well put together. We loved the YouTube playlist which allowed us to learn more about the history of Mardi Gras. My kids also enjoyed the coloring page. Because this is a digital curriculum, I was easily able to print two copies for both of my kids.
I did not have the materials on hand to make the craft that was featured on the Pinterest board. However, we decided to make Mardi Gras masks. This was still on theme and went along with what we learned about mask wearing from the YouTube playlist. The kids enjoyed making their masks, while I played Music from New Orleans artists so that we could really get in the Mardi Gras mood. We had our own Mardi Gras celebration at home and it was so much fun!
We thoroughly enjoyed using The Waldock Way Holiday Fun Around the World curriculum. If you want to learn and teach your child more about cultural celebrations, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try.
